About me

I'm Erik. I've worked in I.T. for over 20 years. I've done network- and system administration, managed servers in a datacenter, programmed industrial machines and robots and done CAD/CAM. The last decade or so I've focused on (web) application development and architecture, working on software used by large companies, with multi-terabyte databases and many users. I've also dabbled in DevOps and have written quite a bit of front-end code in the past. I like to keep up with current technologies to see if I can make software better, faster, more userfriendly and more reliable.
If you'd like to talk tech with me sometime, don't hesitate to contact me.

Tools of the trade

Programming languages and software are just tools. Still, there are different types of tools for different types of jobs.
My go-to programming language is Python. Because it's simple, elegant, and for most use cases fast enough. I also dabble in C#, JavaScript and TSQL. I've used MSSQL, MySQL, Redis and Couchbase. Flask and Django, Huey and Celery, Jquery and Less. I've implemented DevOps with Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo and Octopus. I know my way around Photoshop and Pycharm, Linux and Windows. I keep up with what's going on in technology, sometimes I try out some new tech or piece of software, like vue.js, Kivy and PWAs just to find out what they're about. Oh, and I wrote a book on classic ASP which is available now.
